Hair Loss & Diet
Hair loss that is caused by deficiencies of nutrients can be treated by proper diet. Therefore patients must include the vitamin biotin, copper, zinc, protein, Vitamin A, Vitamin B, iron and water in their diet.
Hair loss can prevent by well-balanced diet which contain calcium, iron and silica. Cherry juice and dried fruits are main sources of iron. Fresh green vegetables are providing mineral. Raw oats are rich source of silica.
Hair loss in women may a sign of a condition in the gastrointestinal tract. It can be a sign of a deficiency of zinc, protein or other nutrients and insufficient stomach acids. People who are suffered from hair loss should take two tablets of acidophilus during or after foods daily, it will help to thinning hair in women.
Hair loss can be associated by taking a low-fat diet in men. According to scientists, hair loss in men is tied to increase in the levels of testosterone during puberty.
The levels of testosterone raised by taking a high-fat diet based on meat and that may affect hair follicles. Anemia is the main common cause of hair loss. Patients should eat well-balanced diet such as iron-rich foods and whole grain cereals eggs, raisins, dates, green leafy vegetables and other organ meat.
Protein is very useful to prevent hair loss. Patient should eat a diet rich in protein to encourage hair growth. The diet includes brewer’s yeast, two full tablespoons granulated lecithin, calves liver and wheat germ will be recommended by the doctor. This diet is also rich in Vitamins B (necessary nutrient for hair growth), along with protein.
The sources of protein are soy milk, Tofu, eggs, beans, yogurt, low-fat cheese, fish and brewer’s yeast.
Silica is also necessary nutrient for healthy hair. Organic silica added to mild shampoo has found to help stimulate hair growth, assure luster, strength, beautiful shine and prevent hair loss. The sources of silica are red and green peppers, cucumbers and potatoes. Bean sprouts are the main source of silica. Patients should whole foods as sprouts.
The absorption of iron is improved by vitamin C. Patient should include fresh green leafy vegetables and fruits in their diet.
Vitamin E is also necessary for healthy hair. Patients should take nuts, olive oil, avocados and seeds in their diet.
Patients should take diet rich in iodine and vitamin A in case of hair loss caused by thyroid dysfunction. Eat sea salt, cold-pressed seed oils like walnut, pumpkin or flax seed, vegetables such as spinach or carrots in unrefined. If there is a deficiency of iodine, take mustard, peanuts, millet, cabbage, soy beans, turnips and pine nuts.
People must avoid tobacco and minimize the alcohol to prevent hair loss. In case of male pattern baldness, patient should avoid large amounts of animal proteins, salt and animal fats
Caution: Do not take large amount of Vitamin A in the diet. It may cause hair loss.
