Types of Yoga
Various types of yoga are being taught and practiced in today’s world and it is very important to choose the correct type of yoga which can be suitable for every person’s goals, level of fitness and medical condition. Some of the most widely available and popular types of yoga are:-
Vikram (Bikram) Yoga
This type of yoga can be performed in a hot room which contains the temperature around 38 degree Celsius or higher. The best environment for doing yoga is India. This type of yoga contains 26 postures which should be performed in a meticulous order. The exercises which are performed in this type of yoga are very physical and passionate which is combined with heat and makes the people to do a sturdy workout.
Ashtanga Yoga or Raja Yoga (Power Yoga)
This type of yoga controls the mental and physical part of the body. The two different types of raja yoga are Kundalini Yoga and Hatha Yoga. Some breathing techniques like asanas, meditation and pranayam are used to bring the mind at higher position of consciousness and to bring the mind under control. Raja Yoga is also known as Ashtanga Yoga because it is made up of 8 elements.
Bhakti Yoga
This type of yoga is also known as devotional yoga as its main focus is on the self surrender in the appearance of god. It means that it is the path of dedication. Some of the forms of bhakti yoga are repetition of mantras, prayer, ceremony, chanting and ritual.
Iyengar Yoga
Iyengar yoga is best type of yoga for beginners and for those who have not exercised at all. One can even use pillows and chairs to balance in case of lack of flexibility and if one is suffering from joint or back problems. If meditation is added to this type of yoga, then it is best for physical and mental fitness.
Karma Yoga
This type of yoga is connected to yoga of action. In this type of yoga, the person is made devoted to god and without thinking about the personal gain. The yogis not only help the humans but they also help the plants, animals and the whole world by doing noble action. This type of yoga can be done at any time whenever it is required.
Jnana Yoga
Jnana yoga is considered as one of the shortest paths of yoga. This method includes study of analysis, sacred scriptures, meditation and reflection. This type also includes the analysis about the nature of the self. This type of yoga is the most difficult path.
Hatha Yoga
The main aim of Hatha yoga is on the simple poses which can be done by a person very comfortably. This type of yoga can be done at any place and one can do meditation and breathing exercises also in between Hatha yoga. This type of yoga is best for those people who feels stressed after the end of the day.
